BRITISH CHILDREN BETTER FED THAN IN 1938
Recd. 10 p.m. London. Jan. 10. Despite war rationing, the latest reports state the great majority of London school children are better fed than they were in 1938, while In 1945 the maternity death rate reached a record low level of 1.7 per 1000.
Street accident rates during the war were about half the pre-war rate, due largely to the decrease in traffic, but London’s death rate Is high, partly due to bombing.
