NO NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE NAIZS

RESPONSIBLE BRITONS FOREIGN OFFICE STATEMENT Recd. 6 p.m. London, Jan. 7. The Foreign Office has issued the following statement: “Extracts have recently been published by an American news agency from a document said to have been submitted to Hitler in 1941 by Dr. Haushofer, a friend of Hess, after the latter’s flight to England. This document is said to have contained the names of certain British politicians and officials who, it is alleged, would be likely to respond favourably to German peace overtures. His Majesty’s Government has not yet received or examined the text - of the document in question, but it may be stated at once that no persons in a responsible position in this country ever took any initiative for opening negotiations with Germany in 1941, or at any other time during the war.”
