RECORD WAGE AGREEMENT
AUTO WORKERS IN DETROIT
Recd. 1 a.m. New York, Jan. 8. The Kaiser-Fraser Automobile Corporation of Detroit and the United Automobile Workers have reached an unprecedented wage agreement providing a basis rate of 119 cents an hour (approximately 7s), plus production bonus estimated at 10 per cent. In addition the company will accept any wage increase resulting from the Unjted Automobile Workers strike against General Motors. A bonus will be derived from a company payment of five dollars per car into a pool for all production workers. Employees striking without U.A.W. authorisation will lose the bonus benefits for the strike period. The company estimates the bonus will total 1,500,000 dollars annually from the p-oduction of 300,000 cars.
