SAWMILL DESTROYED

VALUABLE PLANT BURNED (P A.) Gore, Dec. 23. Equipment valued at £lOOO was involved. in a fire which swept through the sawmill of Carroll and Co., Dundas Street, East Gore, this morning. The fire was discovered about 5.45 o’clock by an employee. It had a strong hold on the rough board exterior of the building and was climbing the support posts to the roof beams. The brigade was speedily on the scene, but failed to save the building. Much valuable machinery was lost.

The mill had been engaged for two years in cutting timber for the box factory of McLeod Bros., Dunedin. A stack of finished timber near the mill was not harmed. The equipment was insured for £lOOO.
