WESTMERE MEETING

Despite the very inclement weather the 15tli. birthday of the Westmere W.I. was well attended. The president, Mrs. H. Flynn, welcomed members of the federation and visitors from neighbouring institutes and many who had helped in various ways throughout the past year. A very attractive programme was arranged. Delightful solos by Mrs. G. W. Perrett and Mrs. Hodder and elocutionary items by Mrs. Allan Brown were much enjoyed. A one act play staged by members of the Westmere Drama Circle was much appreciated, those taking part were Mesdames F. Laird, R. Piper and Remington. A “Musical Quiz” was arranged byMrs. A. Fl.ntoff. The points competition, a Christmas gift suitable for a child and to be handed in for Christmas tree, Mrs. Piper 1, Miss E. Smith 2 and Mrs. Armstrong 3; open competition, three roses. Mrs. Barnes 1, Mrs. Brownlie 2; jar gooseberry jam, Mrs. E. Prince 1, Miss E. Laing 2, Mrs. Corliss 3. A social competition was won by Miss D. Smith and Mrs. Brook. Miss E. Smith proposed a vote of thanks to all who had contributed to such aa enjoyable afternoon's programme. With the singing of several cai/is and the National Anthem brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close. Hostesses were Mesdames Barnes, Ch it tick, Corliss, Jones, Remington and H. C. Taylor.
