DIFFERENCE AS TO SIAM
U-S- AND BRITAIN
AMERICA WANTS DETAILS OF BRITISH AGREEMENT Reed. 7 p.m. London, Dec. 21. The United States Charge d’Affaires in London, on two days, called at the British Foreign Office to make representations, based on the assumption that an •‘ultimatum had been delivered by Britain to Siam, says the Press Association’s diplomatic correspondent.
The Charge d’Affaires asked for details fo the Anglo-Siamese agreement. The correspondent says Britain has delivered no such “ultimatum,” and the Charge d’Affaires was given the latest proposals made for an agreement with Siam. It would seem that the United States Assistant Secretary of State, Mr. Dean Acheson, had not received a report of this interview when he made a statement to tho United States Press Io the effect that America asked Britain and Siam not to conclude an agreement until American views were fully placed before the British Government.
