WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
CHRISTMAS MEETING AT WTSSTBOURNE The Hall was gaily decorated with rambling roses and bowls ot flowers for the Christmas meeting which w.ls well attended. Mrs F. H. Uttley presided and welcomed visitors from other organisations. The motto "Peace on earth, good will toward men’’ was read. Members were reminded about the picnic in January. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, after which carol singing, conducted by Mrs. Butler, was enjoyed by members. Sprays arranged by Mrs. P. Burns were presented to Mrs. Uttley and Mrs. Butler. Several packets of food and soap were brought for a food parcel to “Sister Clare' institute, Suffolk, England. Westbourne Institute donated an easy chair for the Early Settlers’ rest room. Two new members, Mrs. Honeyman and Mrs Rees were enrolled. For exchange of Xmas gifts, Mrs, Stilborn and Mrs. Swan acted as Father Xmas, and distributed the gifts to the members. The Gardening Circle will hold their picnic in February. Best bloom, judged by Mrs. Honeyman and Mrs. Paul: Mrs Mayes 1, Mrs Moore 2, Mrs Swan 3. Greetings were exchanged.
