U.S. MOVE TO STRENGTHEN AMBASSADOR’S HAND
Reed. 10 p.m. Washington, Dec. IS. The State Department has disclosed that it directed the War Department to obtain approval from General Marshall. newly-appointed United States Ambassador to China, before giving any further assistance to the northward movement ol the Chinese Central Government forces. The department, explained that the move was intended to strengthen General Marshall's hand on his mission on Chinese unification.
