HURLEY BLAMED FOR EVENTS IN CHINA
Washington, Dec. 15 General Hurley caused the removal of General Stilwell from and also brought about the resignation ot Mr. Gauss as Ambassador, said representative Hugh Delacy, broadcasting. He claimed that General Stilwell nearly achieved military unity in China when Chiang demanded his removal. “This is when General Hurley first entered the act. He backed Chiang instead of backing Stilwell and saw that Stilwell was removed,’’ said Mr. Delacy. "Hurley next moved into the diplomatic arena, whore Gauss, who knew and understood China, had been working for unity and democracy. Hurley brought the Chinese Communists and Chiang together, but, because he told Chiang in advance that he could write his own terms because ho was offering United States aid. Hurley destroyed Gauss’ lone work end thus unity and hope of democracy faded and Gauss resigned. These are brutal facts, which led irrevocably to civil war in China.”
