“SONS AND DAUGHTERS’ NIGHT”

ROTARY CLUB MEMBER FAREWELLED

The Savage Club Hall was crowded to capacity on Monday night for the “sons and daughters' night” of the Wanganui Rotary Club. The address was given by the Rev. A. C. McLean.

Opportunity was taken by Archdeacon J. R. Young to farewell Mr. G. Cam-ad, a foundation member of the club, who is retiring from business to reside in Auckland. Archdeacon Young paid tribute to Mr. Carrad, who, he said, was leaving Wanganui after 25 years’ residence. A foundation member of the Wanganui Rotary Club, he had not missed one meeting. Mr. Carrad replied that he had found life’s greatest satisfaction in service. He had taught in Sunday school during the whole of his time in Wanganui. “I am leaving with the greatest regret,” said Mr. Garrad, adding that he never tired of Wanganui, which had amenities that were second to none. Interspersed during the evening a varied programme of vocal, musical and elocutionary items included a song by Miss Dunlop, monologue by Miss Dorothy McSkimming, piano-accor-dion solo by Mr. Hughes, and lightning sketches by Mr. C. Cornish. Mr. Bob London nlayed the piano for community singing. ■ -ra
