BREAKING-UP CEREDJONIES IN WANGANUI

Arrangements of Wanganui primary and secondary schools for breaking up for the end of the year vacation have now been made: End of term fixtures for the Wanganui Collegiate School* are as follows: Saturday, December 1: Four-oar boat race with Technical College on the Aramoho course at 11.15 a.m. Monday, December 3: Inter-house physical training competition. Monday, December 10: Eight-oar boat race against Christ’s College, on the Wanganui River; This will be the first eight-oar race between the two schools. Tuesday, December 11: Prize-giving in Big School at 7.30 p.m. Mr. Martyn Abraham, Palmerston North, president of the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys’ Association, will be the visitor of the day, and wijj present the prizes. December 13 and 14: Annual cricket match with Wellington College, in Wellington. December 17 and 18: Annual cricket match against Christ’s College, in Christchurch. The prize-giving ceremony at St. George’s Preparatory School will be held at the school on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 11, when Mr. Martyn Abraham, Palmerston North, will present the prizes. Wanganui Girls’ College arrangements are:— December 6: Music pupils’ concert. December 8: Display of work, folk dancing, etc. December 11 and 12: Sixth Form Play. December 13: Prize-giving. The prizes will be presented by Mrs. Beattie, president of the Old Girls’ Association. The Wanganui Technical College w’ill end the school year on Friday, December 14. The breaking up function will be held in the Opera House on the night of Thursday, December 6.

St. Augustine's Boys’ High School will end the school year on Friday, December 7.

All primary schools, including the Wanganui Intermediate, will close for the Christmas holidays on Thursday, December 20. The New Zealand Friends* School. St. John’s Hill, will end the term on December 14.
