Glad we did not go to Melbourne for the Cup after all.
FISTS, ON THE RUGBY FIELD ■ They are going to stage a professional boxing bout on Spriggens Park in the open air—a fight in the arena which is the home of Wanganui Rugby! We hope none of the players get the spirit too much. We sometimes see an occasional fist too many in those wretched scrums as it is. Actually fighting on that beloved ground might be taken too much to heart! ' OFF THE RAILS There was a tram off the rails in Wanganui the other day. Last night the House was also “off the rails,” and a member faced the choice of withdrawing something or being suspended. When he walked out of the Chamber, and later, when somebody else walked out to find him, the P.M. appealed to members to remember they were on the air and not throw challenges across the floor of the House. A sort of tense silence settled then, and we thought that, the New Zealand broadcasting people, true to traditions, would politely say: "We are now returning to the studio for some music while we are awaiting the return of the missing member.” We then would have expected a nice voice singing, “Abe, my boy,, what are we waiting for now?” We’ve always thought these broadcasting Johnnies are lacking in a sense oX humoiuh
