OBITUARY
LIEUT.-COL J. E. ANDERSON
Invalided back from India In July this year; Lieut.-Colonel John Edward Anderson died in Wellington Hospital on Monday, aged 57 years. Lieut-Colonel Anderson was formerly resident engineer of the Public Works Department, Christchurch, and before that was stationed at Stratford. He enlisted early in the war and left New Zealand in 1940 with the Second N.Z.E.F. He was in charge of the Railway Construction Corps in the Western Desert, and in 1943 he was transferred to India, where he took up a similar appointment with the Indian Army. In the 1914-18 war he was C.R.E. to a British division in France, and afterward held important administrative posts tn Iraq. In the World War I he was awarded the M.C. and Croix de Guerre, and in 1942 he was awarded the 0.8. E. His wife resides in Wanganui,
