NEW AUDITOR-GENERAL

MR. J. I*. RI THERFORD. (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., Sept. 24. The appointment ol Mr. J. P. Rutherford, Deputy Controller and Auditor-General, as Controller and auditor-General, was announced tonight by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fiaser. Mr. Rutherford will succeed Mr. C. G. Collins, who retires tomorrow. Mr. Rutherford has been 42 years with the Auditor Office. He was an examiner and ledger keeper head office for seven year., and audit inspector at Wanganui, Dunedin, and Christchurch lor 22 years, audit officer in London for five years, supervisor of the local bodies branch al head office lor two years, and Deputy Controller and Auditor-Gen-eral for six years. He is a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants.
