R.N.Z.A.F. PLANE IS MISSING

FAILS TO ARRIVE AT AUCKLAND

(P.A.) Auckland, Sept. 24. A C-47 Douglas Dakota aircraft of the K.N.Z.A.F. Transport Command, with 21 members of the R.N.Z.A.F., on board, which was due at Whenuapai at 3.40 p.m. to-day has not arrived. The aircraft is a twin-engined machine and left Espritu Santos, in the New Hebrides Group, and the last message received from the plane was at 10 o’clock this mornNew Zealand time, hi addition to her crew of live she has three officers and 13 other ranks on board. Two search aircraft were despatched to-day, one from Norfolk Island one from another island. The weather is reported to be good. If no trace is found further intensive search will be continued to-morrow..
