MANNEQUIN PARADE

FOR OHAKUNE QUEEN CARNIVAL FUNDS The Ohakune Queen Carnival Fund will benefit considerably from the interest shown by the women in the display of fashions organised by Londontown, Ltd., Wanganui anu shown by means of a mannequin parade in the Majestic Theatre, Ohakune, on Saturday afternoon, for tne candidate,. Miss Liirhne Deadman. The thearter was packed to the doors. On arrival at Ohakune the organisers and mannequins were entertained at morning tea and lunch, and following the parade again received hospitality from the local folk who provided a delicious afternoon tea. Wonderful floral work by Mesdames Pearson and Fetzer made an attractive setting on the stage for the parade. Large clumps of polyanthus and primroses, with the soil, were transplanted from gardens to stage to give a realistic effect. A wide platform, from the stage down the aisle, had been erected lor the occasion, and Ohakune people had generously provided suitable corpe.s, also mirrors and dress racks, a gesture very much appreciated by the visitors. Miss T. G. McCullock and Miss Cushla Carver contributed enjoyable songs.

Mrs. Seivewright, on behalf of the visitors expressed thanks for the kindness and hospitality they had leceived, and said how much they had enjoyed presenting the fashion parade to help the funds of the carnival. She also voiced her appreciation for the excellent preparations made for the display.

Incidental music was provided by Dulcie Rule (Raetihi) Valerie Sigley (Taihape) and Joy Watson. The mannequins were Dorothy Brett, Marjorie Jones, Gladys Lovegrove, Marjorie Melville, Fav McDonald, Jean Falconer, Gladys Godfrey, Trixie Sheaves, and the tiny tots were Jennie Carew, Peggy Godfrey and Robin Linden.
