INDONESIAN GUERRILLAS

EFFORT TO SET UP AN EAST INDIES REPUBLIC Sydney, Sept. 22. Two Dutch ships are on the Way from Australia to Java, where Indonesian guerrillas are reported to be attempting to set up an East Indies Republic. The heavy destroyer Tro-mpf left Sydney on Friday and the K.P.M. ship BalikPapan from Brisbane, is taking Netherlands and All ed troops for garrison duties.

The Indonesian revolt coincides with a rising against French rule in Indo-China, where the Annamites have set up a provisional Government.

More ships are scheduled to leave Australia for the East Indies next week. The pasengers will include Netherlands Civil Administration ollicials.

It is reported that the Netherlands Indies Government warned the Allies that Allied prisoners of war and white internees and relief parties who have gone to their ass stance in Java may be attacked by Indonesians. This warning was accompanied by an official Dutch announcement that native guerrillas may become troublesome if the arrival of Allied troops is delayed.
