ARMY PROMOTION

FORMER ALL BLACK The promotion to lieutenant-colonel of Major M. M. N. Corner, M.C., the New Zealand Rugby football halfback, who was appointed acting-com-manding officer of the First Battalion, Fiji Infantry Regiment, last February, has been announced. LieutenantColonel Corner reached the peak of his football career in 1930, when the British team toured the Dominion. He also played in the only test against lhe visiting Australian combination in 1931, and toured the Commonwealth in 1932 and 1934. Winning a place in the All Black team of 1935. he toured Great Britain, and was captain of the Dominion team in its match against the London counties at. Twickenham during that tour. He has represented Auckland on 45 occasions, twice as captain.
