POWER BLACK-OUT IN SYDNEY
OBDURATE BUNNERONG STRIKERS Rccd. 10.50 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 6 Total electricity black-outs occurred in 18 suburbs to-day, and a number of hospitals and factories were temporarily put out of commission. A mass meeting of 500 Bunnerong strikers to-day rejected compromise proposals and decided to continue the strike. Dras.ic power rationing seems certain after midnight to-night, when the white-collar men will refuse to supply electricity except for essential users. At several hospitals to-day power was not available for 20 minu es. Two patients in electricallyoperated iron lungs at one hospital not yet affected by the break in the supply said they could feel the lessening in pressue and experienced more difficulty in breathing. in Canberra it is claimed that the strikers are liable to prosecution under the National Security Act.
