An award of honour in recognition 10l the Wanganui postal district being I the ninth in the Dominion to attain .100 per cent, ot its quota in the recent ! Victory Loan, campaign, has been received from loan headquarters in Wei. Jington. 'lhe banner was presented to the Wanganui City Council last night by the chairman of the City and District: Committee, Mu. E. A. Millward. After thanking him. however the mayor, the Hon. W. J. Rogers, asked Mr. Millward to re-acept the banner for presentation to the chief postma.’ler, Mr. d. J. B. Walker. The Mayor c^zn-1 mented that it was proper that me ; banner should be lodged at the Chief Post Oilice. ‘The objective fixed for lhe Wanganui postal district was £784,000. with a city allocation of £430,000 said the Mayor. This district actually raised £792,000 of which the city contributed £411,000. This is a malt or for sincere congratulation and tribute to Mr. Millward. as the city ard district chairman, Mr. B. E. Williams, acting tn his | official capacity as organiser, together ’with the members of the various committees set up throughout the area, and of course Io our citizens and friends in the country districts who “made possible lhe raising of our district objective.” | Tributes to Mr. Millward's work I were also paid by Crs. E. W. Merewether and W. S. N. Rennie.
