WANGANUI SALE FAT SHEEP FIRMER An average yarding in all sections was submitted by Freeman R. Jackson ant! Co., Ltd., at the Wanganui sale yesterday, and met with a keen sale to a good attendance of buyers Fat sheep again firmed up on last week and a few lots of breeding ewes and hoggets sold freely. Only oddments of fat cattle were yarded, but these soln well, and stores were at late rates. There was a good entry of early-calving dairy cows, which sold freely, but backward and aged cattle were not in demand. A light yarding of pigs maintained late rates. Quotations: —
Sheep.—Prime wethers, 39s to 41s; fat wethers. 33s _4d to 38s; prime ewes (maidens), to 335; prime, 27s to 30s; fat, 19s to 24s 6d; Down ewes, 24s 6d to 27s 6d; prime hoggets, 35s to 37s 6d. fat, 24s to 395; two and four-tooth wethers, 27s 7d; twotooth ewes, 36s 3d; aged ewes, to 31s 3d; wether hoggets, 23s to 24s 6d; b.f; hoggets to 20s Id; culls, 12s to 16s Cattle.—Fat ex-dairy cows, £6 7s 61 to £8 2s 6d; store crossbred bullocks, £9; ditto, steers, £6 4s; P.A. breeding cows, £5 4s; store cows, £2 5s to £4; two-year empty Jersey heifers, £5 4s to £6 6s; yearlings, £3 5s to £4 10s; dairy cows, to fourth calf, close up, £ll 10s to £l5 10s; over fourth calf, £lO to £11; aged and. backward, £7 5s to £8 10s; springing heifers, £8 10s to £ll 10s.
Pigs.—Stores, 40s co 425; weaners, good, to 41s. average, 29s to 345: small. 27s to 28s. Vealers.—Heifers, £4 16s to £6; calves. 17s 6d.
