OBITUARY

MR. ERNEST SENIOR Mr. Ernest Senior, whose death occurred in Wanganui yesterday morning, had resided in the city for the past 40 years. Born in Mytholmroyd, Yorkshire, England, in 1876, h; came to New Zealand in 1902 and settled in Wanganui in 1904. In 1906 he entered into partnership with Mr. G. E. Bennett in the butchery business still carried on under the trade name of Senior and Bennett. His passing thus severs a business connection of 38 years. Mr. Senior was a man of quiet and unassuming nature, but nevertheless took a keen interest in all matters for the welfare of the community, and fox- a number of years has been a Justice of the Peace. In his association with the meat industry he was highly regarded, and sex-ved for a number of years on the Board of Directors of the Wanganui Abattoirs. Mr. Senior was keenly interested in Freemasonry, being a Past Master of Lodge Moutoa No. 195, end a member of the Grand Lodge in New Zealand. He was also a Past Grand Superintendent of the Royal Arch Chapter and of the Rose Croix. His irreproachable character as a man and a Mason secured for him the loving respect of all. and in his death he has left a memory of a kindly, Christian man.

He leaves a daughter, Miss Nell Senior, and a step-daughter. Miss Irene Hall.
