PLUNKET NEWS

The teaching of mothercraft and fathercral't is to be commenced in the new Plunket rooms at Lyttelton, the Education Board, having approved and co-operated in the new course, says the Plunket News, the bulletin issued by the Dominion Society. A section dealing with shoes for children stated it was gratifying to report that the New Zealand production of shoes for pre-school children had increased from 36,552 in 1942 to 170,450 pairs in 194.3, further, importations from overseas were 36,800 pairs ahead of the previous year. Though the shortage had been considerably relieved, mothers complained that 'they were frequently unable to buy the type of shoe advocated by the Plunket Society; a laced shoe with flexible sole.
