ROAD TO SCOTT’S FERRY
RECOMMENDATION TO MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD A recommendation that the BullsScott’s Ferry Road, in the Rangitikei County, be declared a main highway will be made by the No. 8 District Highways Council, following a decision reached at the annual meeting yesterday. If this recommendation is adopted the Bonny Glen-Norwood Corner highway will revert to an ordinary road. The chairman, Mr. G. W. Sampson, said there was no chance at the present time of the Main Highways Board declaring any new highways, though substittuions would be .considered. ■ • . < Mr. W. Doole (Rangitikei County) said a similar recommendation regarding the Bulls-Scott’s Ferry Road was made in 1939, but was declined by the board. Because of heavy Air Force traffic the position had become worse since then. Flock House did not pay rates and this was an added reason why the county should be given a subsidy for the road. The county engineer, Mr. S. A. R. Mair, said the Bulls-Scott’s Ferry Road was four miles longer than the present Bonny Glen-Norwood Comer highway, b»;t four miles could be mintained by the county if Ihe road from Bulls Io Scott’s Ferry were declared a highway.
