VENEREAL DISEASE
FURTHER GRANT MADE IN AUSTRALIA Canberra, May 24, An additional Federal grant of £25,000 for the campaign against venereal disease has been announced bv the Acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Forde. The Commonwealth, he said, did not propose to limit itself to this grant, which is additional to the £25,000 granted to States last year. The second grant was something for the States to carry on with until the conference of Commonwealth and State Health Ministers decided on future action. The Government was concerned over the increasing incidence of venereal disease in young men and women, and the decline in Australia’s birthrate, the Federal Minister of Health. Senator Fraser, told a meeting of thp National Health and Medical Research Council to-day.
