WELL-KNOWN TRAINER DEAD

The widely-known trainer. J. F. Tutchen, died in the Waikato Hospital at 8 a.m. on Wednesday after an illness of only a few hours. The late Mr. Tutchen was one of the most dashing cross-country horsemen in the Dominion a little over 30 years ago, riding innumerable winners,- although the principle events eluded him. He produced many winners after he took up training, and in 1928 won the Wellington Steeplechase with Pouri, which was ridden by the late E. Warner. At the Bay of Plenty meeting at Paeroa. on March 25 he led in his iast winner, Black Beret, in the Jack Tanner Memorial.
