SERIOUS BLOW TO AXIS TRANSPORT Recd.'B p.m. London, April 19. The mining of the Danube, carried out. by R.A.F. Wellingtons and Liberators based in Italy, is a major blow in the air campaign to disrupt the enemy’s supply routes to southern Russia, writes an air correspondent. These operations have been carried out over several nights, and were coordinated with attacks on the enemy’s Balkan communications. Hungarian and. Rumanian shipping companies, it was announced on Monday by Bucharest radio, have suspended all traffic on the river on account, of mines. They have already lost one large river ship and some smaller vessels.
