78 TO 80LB. CARCASE TO BRING SAME AS 72L8. (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., March 8. The Minister of Marketing, Mr. Roberts, announced to-night that, after consultation with the Meat Producers’ Board, it had been decided to allow a tolerance to producers on weights for heavyweight wethers, the altertaion taking effect from killings on and after to-morrow, March 9.
The Export Marketing Division's f.o.b. purchase prices for prime wethers will now be as follows:—4Blbs. and under, s£d; 49 to 561b5., 42d; 65 to 721b5., 4ld; 73 to 801bs.. paid for as for a wether weighing 721b5., that is the same carcase price as a 721bs. animal, irrespective of weight; 81 to 901b5., 22d. Improvement in payout by the Marketing Department for a 73 to 801bs. wether will automtically be reflected in the schedule prices payable to producers for this grade.
