WANTED: MORE COAL
Recd. 10.25 p.m. Canberra, Feb. 11. “I only wish there was somebody in this country who could tell me how to get more coal,” the Prime Minister, Mr. Curtin, declared in the House of Representatives to-day. “The problem is one of keeping pac? with requirements. last year provided about 800,000 tons less than the previous year, and we have been unable to maintain reserves.” Mr Curtin said Britain and America had both asked Australia to send coial to Europe, because of their own coal problems. New Zealand also wanted Australian coal.
