The Hon. J. D. Rankine. actingColonial Secretary o*. x*iji, has commissioned by the Governor ol Fiji. Major-General Sir Philip Mitchell, to act as his deputy during his absence. Flight - Sergeant M. Hocken, R.N.Z.A.F., has been promoted to commissioned rank. Advice to this effect has been received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hocken, Moumanaki. After enlisting in New Zealand he received his advanced training in Canada. Mr. R. C. Addison, resident inspector of lhe Bank of New South Wales, has been elected chairman of tne Associated Banks in New Zealand for 1944 and Mr. E. A. Cameron, inspector of the Bank of Australasia, as deputychairman. Mr. A. W. Clouston, Wellington, has been appointed secretary of tne Rotorua Golt Club, to till the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr. George Gee, who had held the position lor many years past. Mr. Clouston for several years past has been a member of the Manor Park and Miramar Golf Clubs. He started his golfing career in Melbourne, and for a time was a member of the Christchurch Goll Club.
