IN SUPREME COMMAND
GEN. MARSHALL AS HEAD INVASION OPERATIONS ANTICIPATED

General Marshall’s appointment as supreme Anglo-American commander is expected to follow the perfection of plans for the closest co-operation between the Russian High Command and the Allied forces which General Marshall will head, says the Associated Press.
There is every expectation In Washington that General Marshall will establish his headquarters in London before the end of the year. It is believed that General Eisenhower will succeed General Marshall as Chief of Staff. A Bill for the construction of 1,000,000 tons of landing-craft, and 2,500,000 tons of auxiliary vessels was introduced in the House of Representatives by the chairman of the Naval Committee, Mr. Carl Vinson. Similar legislation was introduced in the Senate. The Associated Press said the proposed measure indicated large-scale plans for future invasiejn operations by American armies.
