BOWLING MATCHES (O’.C.) Hunterville, Nov. 22. The first match of the season for the Hunterville Bowling Club’s ‘'Ferns” took place yesterday and resulted as follows:—Peak, Lloyd, Hurley, Ansley 24, v. Kerr, Thompson, Bourke, McKay 23. McKay’s rink was leading 17-4 at one stage, but remained stationary until the score was 17 all. After 21 heads the score was still even, 23 all, and an extra head was played for Ansley to secure the winning point. Games on Saturday resulted:—Kerr and McKay 17, v. Lloyd and Ansley 3; Hurley, Thompson and Ironmonger 26, v. Williams, Abel and Mons 18. A visitors’ day is to be held on December 12. GENERAL ITEMS W.W.S.A. social and dance on Thursday evening opportunity was taken to farewell Miss Nancy Frampton, who is leaving Hunterville to join the staff of Taihape Hospital as a probationary nurse. Miss Frampton was the recipient of a suitable presentation. The death occurred in Wanganui Hospital yesterday of Mrs. Frank Lees, who had been a resident of Hunterville for the past nine months. She leaves a widow and one daughter <Miss Ivy Lees). • Hunterville Presbyterian J. s f° r warding an enthusiastic call to Rev. A. Baxter, of Apiti. The local charge has been vacant for some three months, during which period the services have been taken by district lay preachers. DANCE AT OHINGAITI The Public Works Department staff, working in the district, will stage a dance in aid of patriotic funds in the Ohingaiti Hall on Friday, December 3. Everything possible is being done bv an enthusisatic committee to make the function a success.
