COWS ALLOWED TO WANDER

Charged in the Magistrate's Court, Wanganui, yesterday with failing to prevent two cows from wandering at large without proper guidance, Maurice Joseph Kennedv was fined 10s by Mr J. H. Salmon, and ordered to pay costs amounting to fl 17s Bd. Mr. W. A. Thrush, who appeared for the Waitotara County Council, said that at 3.30 p.m. on October 31 the county ranger found the cows wandering at the Castlecliff end of the Mosston Road. He took the cattle to defendant’s property and gave them in charge of a boy. Defendant told the Court that the cows wandered out on to the road because the boy had left the rails of a fence down. Defendant added that he now had plenty of space for grazing the cattle.
