POSITION IN CALCUTTA

Recd. 6 p.m. Calcutta. Nov. 21. During the week ended on Saturday 361 sick and destitute people died in the hospitals and suburbs of Calcutta compared with 457 in the previous week. The admisisons to hospital were 704 compared with 740 in the previous week. VICEROY’S CONFERENCE Recd. 6 p.m. New Delhi, Nov. 20. The Viceroy, Lord Wavell, in the last two days conferred with the Governors of 11 provinces about food problems. The conference aimed at ensuring a co-ordinated food policy throughout India, including price control and the extension of rationing in urban areas.
