EGMONT SHOW JUDGING
SUCCESSFUL WANGANUI DISTRICT EXHIBITORS Wanganui exhibitors obtained prominence at the 60th annual show, which opened in Hawera yesterday, of the Egmont Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Livestock judging took place in brilliant sunshine and a good attendance of the public found a wealth of exhibits of high merit to command their interest and enthusiasm. The show will be officially opened to-day by the nresident of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand, Mr. L. J. Wild (Feilding).
One of the most successful exhibitors in the Southdown sheep section was Stanley Hughes (Maxwell), who entered the champion ram (in wool, natural condition), the champion ewe (over 18 months with lamb at foot), and also the reserve champion ewe. In addition, he obtained five firsts, five seconds and two thrids. Nelson Hughes (Maxwell) was awarded two seconds and two thirds, also the reserve championship for a ram (over 18 months). In the class for milking Shorthorns, Horrocks Bros. (Makirikiri) obtained five firsts, two seconds and one third. Several entries from Wanganui and the Waimarino district figured in the section for saddle horses. T. D. Baker (Raetihi) obtained two firsts with High Command and two seconds with Contrary. J. Goodwin (Taihape), with Heni-Mataroa, was awarded one first and one second, and G. W. Perrett's (Wanganui) Banjo secured one first, one second and one third. Allen Lupton (Waverley) obtained a third with Marker. Mrs. Jean Strange (Ohakune) entered King David and won two second prizes. In the class for the best groomed turn out, Mrs. Strange (King David) was awarded second prize, and T. D. Baker won third place with High Command.
