THE WANGANUI SALE
Fat sheep values were firm at late rates, state Messrs. Freeman R. Jacksou and Co. in their report on the Wanganui stock sale held yesterday. Store sheep sold well but the sale for woolly hoggets was on the dull side. There was a limited inquiry for store cattle. Jersey heifers sold well and pigs values were at recent rates. Quotations: — Sheep.—Fat ewes, 13s 6d, 14s 3d; fat 2-tooth ’Downcross wethers, 245, 26s 3d! fat woolly hoggets, 335, 355; light, 26s 6d; m.a. wethers to 23s lOd; 2tooth wethers to 23s 3d; ewe hoggets, 28s 6d.
Cattle.—Fat Jersey cows, £5 2s 6d, £7 15s; boner cows, £2 ss, £4 2s 6d; 2-year Hereford heifers to £7 ss; yearling Jersey heifers, £4, £5 2s; small (hold overs’, £2 15s, £3 15s; springing heifers to £6 15s; Jersey bulls, 9 guineas.
Pigs.—Light baconers, to £3 10s; porkers to £2 14s; stores, 30s, 37s 6d; weaners, 225, 27s 6d; small, 12s, 19s. Vealers.—Runners to £7 7s 6d; vealers, £2 18s, £2 18s.
