Mr. A. R. Kitto, who recently lost an eye through an accident, has returned io h s home from hospital.
Mi. E. W. Coldicutt, district manager oi the Government Life insurance Department, at New Plymouth,, has been promoted to tne position rf chief clerk to the department in Wellington. Superintendent G. Stewart, of the Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade,, has boon elected president of the Auckland District United Fire brigades’ Association. The appointment was made at the annual comerenee ol the association at Tauranga. Dr. Samuel Angus has died, says a Sydney cablegram. He’ rose ironi farm boy to a world figure as a theologian and author. Independent and outspoken, he was known to thousands of students, whom he had tau.ght at Sydney University during the past 30 years, as a kindly and sympathetic professor.
