ALLIED MOVE IN EAST

FEARS IN BERLIN AND TOKIO

Recd. 6 p.m. London. Oct. 1. The Japanese are rushing large reinforcements to Burma to meet the Allied offensive. Reports suggest that the Japanese expect landings in Sumatra and Malaya as well as a thrust at Burma. Berlin radio said to-day that "in- u* formation about enemy shipping off ' Ceylon and the transfer of large numbers of troops to the Eastern areas make it likely that the Allies intend to launch an attack on Burma in the near future.”
