ALLIED MOVE IN EAST
FEARS IN BERLIN AND TOKIO
Recd. 6 p.m. London. Oct. 1. The Japanese are rushing large reinforcements to Burma to meet the Allied offensive. Both Tokio and Berlin express fears that big Allied thrusts ivill bo made against the Japanese soon in one or more places. Reports suggest that the Japanese expect landings in Sumatra and Malaya as well as a thrust at Burma. Berlin radio said to-day that "in- u* formation about enemy shipping off ' Ceylon and the transfer of large numbers of troops to the Eastern areas make it likely that the Allies intend to launch an attack on Burma in the near future.”
