FORMER AREA COMMANDER FAREWELLED

LIEUT.-COLONEL S. H. GOULD. Lieutenant-Colonel S. H. Gould, N.Z.T.S., former Area Commander in Wanganui, and Mrs. Gould were the guests of honour at a social and dance by Area 6 temporary staff members and signals section personnel in Victoria Hall. The gathering was an expression of appreciation by the staff to a popular and efficient officer, who is returning to his appointment at the Collegiate School. On behalf of those present Major D. W. Curham, M.C.. area staff officer, made a number of presentations to both Lieutenant-Colonel Gould and Mrs. Gould. He paid tribute to the zealous work carried out by Mr. Gould during his association with the Wangahui Area staff which went back to the outbreak of war. So successful was the evening that the organising committee intends to continue similar entertainments as a means of keeping social contact between members of the area staff and their families.
