PURPOSE OF BRITISH MISSION Recd. 7.5£> p.m. Sydney, Oct. 1. Commenting on the visit of the British mission of Navy, Army and Air Force officers headed by MajorGeneral Lethbridge, the chief of the United Kingdom Army and Air liaison staff in Australia, Major-General R. H. Dewing, said that with the exception of operational planning the mission would study all Pacific problems, including tactics, organisation, weapons, supply, transport, communications and medical service. He added that in order that the British forces, when they could be released from the European theatre, might quickly be made ready to co-operate to the full with the United States in the war against the Japanese, many problems ot re-equipment and re-organisation would have to be solved.
