BIG AMERICAN OUTPUT Reed. 6 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 24. The United States was producing in August 230,000 tons of combat vessels, equivalent, to one-fourth the total of the United States naval combatant str/gth at the time ol Pearl Harbour. Rear-Admiral Woodward announced to-day. He also stated that 2.500,000 long tons of war commodities were awaiting shipmen., to the Allies under len-d-lease. —8.0.W.
