SPECIAL WANGANUI WINDOW DISPLAY

A window display by a Wanganui firm for the Third Liberty Loan featuring photographs of hundreds of Wanganui and district sailors, soldiers, and airmen has been a source of great attraction during the past week The background of the display consists ol newspapers opened out with the head-line news telling of exploits of New Zealand troops in bold lettering in red. A large sign reads “By their* deeds measure yours.” The rest of the window contains the photographs, one section of the display being devoted to those Wanganui men who have paid the supreme sacrifice, the photos being grouped together in purple satin. Family groups have also been arranged, one family having five sons and lather in the fighting fcrces. Several well-known Wanganui families have groups of four sons all serving overseas. The collection of the photographs took 14 days, and over 400 letters were posted to Wanganui and district homes. The response, according to the management, was amazing. Daily photographs poured in. each had to be named, and this alone entailed hours of work. Even after the display was arranged dozens of photographs continued to arrive showing the interest the collection has aroused. To give impetus to the sale of bonds the firm concerned advertised discounts lor purchases and a stall in front, of iLs building to handle bond business.
