AWARD TO BOY SCOUT

(P.A.) Auckland, June 26. The award of the Boy Scout Association’s Certificate of Merit to Air .Scout Graham Robertson Horne, Auckland, in recognition of his services at a fire near Frankton railway on January 20, has been approved by the Governor-General, as Chief Scout. The stationmaster at Frankton, in reporting on Horne’s action, said the lad gave the first alarm of the fire, which endangered valuable property consisting of eight houses, and helped the firemen for nearly five hours, till the danger was past. He also later, by prompt action, prevented a renewed outbreak.
