STABILISATION PLAN

DAIRY BOARD SUPPORT (P.A.) Wellington, .May 20. Proposals supporting in principle the Government stabilisation plan as it applies to the dairy industry were adopted by an overwhelming majorityat the conference of delegates of the New Zaaland Dairy Board to-day. It was an acceptance conditional on the adjustm %it of farm costs to the 1938 level, 'inree dissenting voles were recorded. The chairman, Mr. W. E. Hale, said that, pending discussions with the Government, no point could be fixed at which determination of the costs ■ n regard to stabilisation would start. That might not seem very satisfactory, but delegates would have to place their confidence in those appointed to handle this difficult matter for them. Differences of opinion in the Dairy Industry Council had been reconciled, and the proposals brought down were the unanimous recommendation. If reasonable satisfaction was not obtained it would not be the first time two Dairy Board conferences had been held in the one year. Subsequently the conference adopted a remit that, owing to the urgent need for pig production and the unprecedented drop in prices, the Government be asked to place the pig industry on an economic basis.
