WANGANUI COUNTY

ROADS IN GOOD CONDITION “I agree with the engineer that the county roads generally are in good’ condition,” said the chairman. Or. A. H. Collins, at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui County Council yesterday. He added that it was essential that where possible new metal should be placed on the roads each year. The- engineer, Mr. R. R. Dawson, reported that metal repairs had been carried out on the No. 50 highway between Deniair and Kauangaroa. On the Mangamahu Road surface repairs were being carried out with the power grader. Work associated with the supply of maintenance metal for the road would start this week. Metal maintenance work would be started on the Wangaehu Valley Road at an early date, otherwise the general condition of the road was fair. The Upper Wangaehu Valley Road had been metalled between Mt. View and the Koukoupo Stream. Large concrete pipes had been delivered on the site near the Pangarara Stream and would be placed in position immediately.
