FRANCO FEARS RUSSIA
Madrid, March 18. General Franco announced at the opening nf the Spanish Parliament that he intended to spend £100,000,009 on modernising Spain’s army and defen.ee.--. He said the war would be a long one. A short war would have enabled the attainment of the primary objectives but a six or seven years' war changed the situation completely. Russia’s participation gave the war the character of a tight, to the death. He was convinced that Stalin’s ultimate aim was a universal revolution.
