ANTI-JEWISH LAWS
REPEALED BY GIRAUD Algiers, March 17. General Giraud. by decree, has repealed 62 Vichy-imposed anti-Jewish laws and restored their positions to men removed because they arc Freemason::. General Giraud. in a statement, said manv of the Vichy economic laws could not ho repealed immediately, hut a commission would revise them in accordance with Republican laws and justice would henceforth be administered in the name of the Republic. Elected members of the North African assemblies would be restored Io office. No elections would be held until France was liberated. It is estimated that there are 275.000 Jews in French North Africa. M. Lamirand, secretary-general of th? French Youth Movement in North Africa,has resigned following the arrest of his principal secretary, M. Rohrbach.
