MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER (P.A.) Ashburton, March IS. Arrested late yesterday afternoon while skating at a rink, John Hector McAuley, aged 17 years and nine months, labourer, of Tlnwald, is pl J.®W d .with the murder of Mrs. Wilhelmina Webster, aged 36, taxidriver, who disappeared on Monday night. Mrs. Webster’s body wax found yesterday afternoon in a disused septic tank on a section where the accused lived in the township of Tinwald. Indications are that a fire was lighted m brush placed over the body about mid-day. About 3 o’clock a neighbour, fearing danger of fire, made an investigation. McAuley appeared before justices this morning, and was remanded to appear at Christchurch on March 25. , ”f her ‘ , tf >e body was found all tho clothing had been burned from it and it, was charred almost beyond recognition, but a portion of a white dust coat which Mrs. Webster was wearing at tme of her disappearance could be identified.

A subsequent investigation made by Senior-Detective H. Nuttall. DetecxrV%?er®eant J' J- Halcrow, Detective N. Thompson, and Detective G. Alty, all of Christchurch, led shortly afterwards to the arrest.
