THE WANGANUI SALE

PRACTICALLY LITTLE INQUIRY A good yarding of sheep and cattle were offered at Freeman R. Jackson’s Wanganui sale yesterday, but the attendance was not up to recent sales, with the result that there was little inquiry. Store sheep, with the exception of small 2-tooth ewes were on a par with recent sales. Unless the 2tooths were well grown there was practically no inquiry. Fat sheep and fat cattle were at late rates with a limited inquiry for store cattle. Pigs showed a slight advance for all fats, with stores and weaners at late rates. Vealers were firm at late rates. Quotations:— Sheep.—Medium 2-tooth ewes, 24s to 275; small, 20s to 22s 8d; 4-year ewes, to 19s 4d; 4 and 5-year ewes, 15s to 16s 6d; fattening ewes, 6s 3d to 7s lOd; poor low-mouths, 2.< to 5s 6d; 2tooth wethers, 22s to 22s 7d; good ewes lambs( to 245; medium, to 17s 3d; culls, 8s 6d to 10s 6d; medium wethers lambs, 11s to 15s; culls, 5s to 8s 6d; small b.f. lambs, 5s 6d to 10s 6d; 1-shear S.D. rams, 6i to 7i guineas; mixed age ditto, 5 to 72 guineas; aged, 1J to 4 guineas; 2-shear Ryland rams, 2 to 3 guineas; 1-shear Romney rams, 2 to 3 guineas; 2-shear ditto, 2 guineas; aged, 10s to 30s. Fat Sheep.—Fat 2-tooth wethers, 22s 9d to 24s 6d; light, 19s 6d to 21s 9d; fat ewes, 12s 6d to 13s 6d; light, 9s to 12s; fat lambs, 18s 6d to 225. Pigs.—Baconers, £3 5s to £4 8s; porkers, £2 5s to £3 2s 6d; Light, 37s to £2 2s 6d; stores, 27s to 325; weaners, Ils 6d to 18s 6d. Cattle.—Fat P.A. cows, £7 5s to £8 12s 6d; fat ex-dairy cows, £3 15s to £7 2s 6d; P.A. steers, to £8 7s 6d; P.A. cows, to £5 7s 6d; boner cows, £2 5s to £3 15s. Vealers.—Vealers, £2 2s 6d to £3 10s;' calves, 13s to 255: runners, £4 11s to £5 2s 6d.
