DAILY INTERCESSION

“By terrible things in righteousness wilt Thou answer us. O God «f our Salvation. Who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth.”

O God, we confess with shame how little in the security of our remoteness we feel for the misery of people in conquered and downtrodden lands. Help us to remember that the woes of others are our interest too, and that it is our sin that we are not burdened for them. Speak Thy Divine comfort to hearts that are heavy with anxietv for those dear to themselves, and help them from their own anxieties to remember prayerfully the deeper anguish of those far-off multitudes of our fellow-creatures. Thy judgments. O God. are in all the earth; and even m victory we feel with humbled hearts that it is by terrible things that Thou dost answer our cry for justice. But, O Father of all mercies look down in pity on Thy suffering creation. Strengthen the suffering to call upon Thy name, and be Thou anew the confidence of all the ends- of the earth. Amen.
